FotoRoman 6.2 Istanbul 5 Days 2005, 2-6 November 2005
Day 3: 4th November 2005, HACILLI Forest - Agva
Although it was a very long and tiresome journey to the most
Northeastern part of Istanbul, the nature and the course was
marvelous. The relatively long distance from the city makes it one of
the rare undiscovered places in the area that is worth exploring... ->>
<<- Question: How effective could a sponsor be?
Answer: It can even change individual people's behaviour....
Images of participating families transform even the most serious races into a
festivals.. ->>

<<- This year several of veteran participitants showed us that orienteering
has no age limit.
Finish and gathering area was a nice grassy field. If it had been sunny and
a bit warmer, sunbathing and swimming in the river would have made the day even more enjoyable. ->>
<<- Spot for viewing and the finish tunnel. From the last point to the
finish, there is no need to read a map, just go, go , go Ruuuuuuuunn
!!!
You had to pass the river running through the middle of the map to get
to the finish. With the wet conditions and the excitement of the race
nobody hesitated to do this. ->>
<<- - ->> Normally to visit this point you don't need to pass the river. But it
appears Tugba Saglamdemir (K 10 ) made this an opportunity to rest.
Those who took his/her map climbed a hill (a crazy lad climbed 2 hills).
Going to the finish, Marta Zdravkovic (K 18) missed the point which
was on the slope of the hill and had to climb back. ->>

<<- Normally it is forbidden to help the others in orienteering. But when
that person is a lost child then it is one's duty to help.

Hacilli is the most " a little of everything map" in Istanbul. Control 50
which was under a rock in the "green" was the hardest point to
find...->>
<<- The open field near the "green" became the corridor where so many
runners from different categories run came together.

The open areas allowed runners to pick up speed. (Osman Filiz, E 21L)
but there were many tricks waiting for those who ran soooo fast.. ->>
<<- The view on the way down the hill was beautiful. After the finish, we
walked up to the the village which is visible from the hill,
and ate Gozleme (traditional Turkish pan cake stuffed with cheese mosty) before departing back to Istanbul.
Hacilli provided us a wide variety of vegetation, rocks, stones and
bridges which were unusual for Istanbul. ->>
