FotoRoman 6 Istanbul 5 Days 2005, 2-6 November 2005

Day 0: 1th November 2005, Registrations and Check-In

All the work, correspondence and preparations lasted for months finished now. Today is the day to meet and register for orienteering In Istanbul for people from 10 different nations. Adress: Cordial House Hotel, Çemberlitaş. Located in the city center this small but clean hotel & hostel will be Event Center for the next 6 days.

<<- Buses were welcomed in the parking area and participants were transferred to hotel. Ali and Aykut is on duty ( this looks like tough workJ)

Registration Desk in the lobby was called "Alex's Corner". Accomodation arrangements, registration fees, SI card controls & rentals, handling race number and events control descriptions to registrants... all done here.->>

Day 1: 2nd November 2005, Kömürcü Bendi-Belgrad

<<- Opening race on European side of Istanbul was held in Kömürcü Bendi with a fresh new map. Komurcu Bendi, famous with delicious breakfast delicacies and barbecues, now hosted four buses full of orienteers.

Start point was 700 meters away from gathering area and was well organized.->>

<<- Participants waiting for START in 23 different categories were colourful. Oldest one was 72 years old and youngest was 10. This year more people run in 14-18 and above 35 categories. It was like a joyous fair in Belgrad.

Distance to Start point helped the runners to warm up. People came to Belgrad for picnic enjoyed the colorful scenery and action...->>

In Ist5 race, start was given in the following order: In every minute, participants in 6 different categories took a start. Start corridor was organised as -3, -2, -1 minutes and a check call was mad at -5 minute.->>

<<- Age 18 and over categories picked their maps after the start. Younger had 2 minutes to examine their course and map.

In the forest, everybody was keen to run on his/her own. They run mostly in the woods, sometimes they followed trails. ->>

<<- Some run short, some run long. But everybody met again at contro 100 and ran together in the single finish corridor.

Runners were recharged with delicious DIMES fruit juices offered at the FINISH area and they started to share their experiences with each other. Maps were collected on Day 1, as it was the same forest with Day 4. (they retrieved maps Day4 afternoon.) ->>

<<- Just like in any other race, participants waited results with anxciety. In every 10 minutes, pre eliminary results were announced. Split times were hanged at Event Center after dinner.
